MISSION

Cyber Divisions is a non-profit whose work is shaped by the desire to bring free online security education and awareness to 1.216 billion African people. People and communities who require this education and awareness are vulnerable, and Cyber Divisions wants to change this. Over the past (Number) of years, we have brought free online security education and awareness to over 20,000 people across the African continent. We want to take this education and awareness to 1.216 billion.

Hard-aware project

In the hard-aware program, we extend free online security awareness and education to communities through outreaches. Outreaches are on a weekly basis and are in different locations each week, Communities get an opportunity to learn about online security, the value of data and their privacy, and the best practices they can use to protect them online most of the communities reached out have never gotten to hear about these topics though they have experienced the loss of data and have been involved in scammer incidents.
Cyber Divisions works to bring this education to people, communities, and families so they can learn what to protect and how to protect it.
Your donation helps Cyber Divisions deliver awareness and education to communities throughout the year.

Cyber Safe Spaces

Over the years, we have gone through hundreds of computer lab spaces and public libraries around the country. We provided free online security and privacy education in our outreaches program, and we noticed that all devices(computers) the communities used didn’t even have essential protection installed on them. This raised a question amongst us, yes it is true we are giving power to communities to protect themselves, and they’re getting the ideas and putting them into practice, but on unprotected computers and networks, to us, it didn’t make sense, and we decided that we shall try as much as we can to source protection for these spaces to close these computers based loopholes first.
It’s not because these spaces and the communities responsible for them do not know that they need this protection, but because it is unfordable. We serve in communities and countries where people can hardly afford a meal; in that manner, why would one choose protection over a meal. That’s left for us to think about.
We, as Cyber Divisions, want to be the voice for these communities to cover this gap by leveraging resources by reaching out to well-wishers, Organizations, and partners to help us source essential protection for these spaces in Uganda and the rest of Africa.

In-store Online security education & awareness

Thousands of people connect online each day for their first time in Africa with great excitement to navigate the web, talk, and message with loved ones miles away. It comes with so many advantages but also disadvantages.
Our data indicate that hundreds of people go to gadget stores to acquire a phone or a computer that they barely know how to use. This can cause real problems if no action is taken to provide some education. In addition, hackers and organized groups may take advantage of these people’s data and privacy.
Connecting online, especially for the first time, comes with many challenges with little or no online safety and privacy education.
So little has been done by companies and store owners to provide primary protection education to their clients. As Cyber Divisions, we have developed a program to help provide fast insight and education on security and privacy through our pop-up in-store awareness project.
In this project, we shall partner with gadget stores selling smartphones and computers. We assign someone to the store to provide a quick insight on online security and privacy and a printout to customers to help them stay safe while on their online journey..
